Emergency Chocolate Cake: The Valentine's Day Version #Foodie Friday

Yum

The phone rings… "Hey, long time no see I'm having a little lunch at my house for Valentine's Day tomorrow want to join us?" "Sure, can I bring anything?" "Oh, surprise us."

The surprise is you have no eggs in the fridge, no chocolate chips…and no time to go to the grocery store.

Still have a cup of coffee left from the morning… you're in business. You can make, "Emergency Chocolate Cake."

Emergency Chocolate Cake: The Valentine's Day Version: simplelivingeating.com

I made a Valentine's version by using two heart shaped pans and spreading some raspberry jam in the middle, that I happened to have on hand.

This is a great cake recipe to keep at the ready, because if you do any baking you are likely to have most of the ingredients in your pantry. My mom told me her mother made this cake during World War II when fresh ingredients were always in short supply... it has quite a long history.

So, don't sweat the last minute invitations… go have fun and Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Moroccan Style Split Pea Soup
Moroccan Style Split Pea Soup
Split pea is such a tasty and healthy soup.  Moroccan spices really give it a interesting seasoning make over.

From: Sourdough Native

Lemony Parmesan Pork
Lemony Parmesan Pork
This recipe is super versatile. You can use this same seasoning mix on chicken or fish too… but wow, I never had pork like this.. terrific.

The saying says, "Where there is wine there is love." But what about if there was wine with chocolate? I say it doubles the love!
