Chanterelles with Napa and Nuts: simplelivingeating.com

Back in the day when we used to send our film out to be processed occasionally the developers would send you back the wrong film. Once I got a little kid's birthday party's pictures, so I mailed them back. A person from the film company called me on the phone, (no texting, no emails) to inform me that they where having trouble locating my photos.

Welcome to Foodie Friday. I am on a little summer blog break... but the party must go on!

My co-host Adelina from Home Maid Simple and I have noticed that there are a few Friday parties with the name Foodie Friday. We don't want you to confuse our comments and shares with other parties, so we are planning to change our name and would love your suggestions.

Please leave Friday food party name ideas in the comment section.

Thank you,

I never wanted to be trendy, but thanks to a wheat allergy, I was forced to make a gluten-free version of this couscous salad from French Fridays with Dorie.

Building a Wood Stripped Canoe #Simple Living in Practice #Weekly Menu Plan

wood striped canoe: simplelivingeating.com

It took two summers for my husband and kids to make a cedar wood stripped canoe. Many hours not spent playing video games or frittering away on social media were spent to make a family heirloom.

Indian Chickpeas: Chana Masala #Foodie Friday

Indian Chickpeas: Chana Masala: simplelivingeating.com

Chickpeas or garbanzo beans are probably one of the most popular beans. They are used in cooking throughout India, some countries of the Middle East, Southern Europe, South American and Mexico.

Roasted Pepper #French Fridays with Dorie

Roasted Peppers: simplelivingeating.com

Roasted Peppers like baked tomatoes are exactly the kind of recipe that a simple living blog advocates. I love a dish that is easy to make and focuses on the taste of a single seasonal vegetable.

Here we are in the middle of August and I was expecting the weather to resemble India's weather... instead it is cool and in the mid to low 70's here in New York.

Pork Chops with Aleppo Rub #Foodie Friday

Pork Chops with Aleppo Rub- simplelivingeating.com

We don't grill much at my house, primarily because we are not big meat eaters...though grilled vegetables are very tasty too. But, my brother was coming to visit and I wanted to make something special. My daughter and I are not big fans of beef, so I thought grilled pork would be a terrific idea.

Slow Cooked Tuna Mediterranean Style: Tuna Confit with Black Olive Tapenade & Tomato Salsa #French Fridays with Dorie

My father always wanted his own boat because he loved to go ocean fishing. He didn't live long enough to fulfill his dream, but he did get to go fishing on other people's boats.

The Cleaner Wiener: Applegate #Healthy Eating #Weekly Menu Plan

dog and hot dogs: simplelivingeating.com

This post was sponsored by Applegate. All opinions are my own.

When I was in college I went to a lecture by Ralph Nader titled "What's in your Hot Dog?" I didn't know then what "animal by-products" really where, and I was horrified to hear that string was allowed in hot dogs too! Sales of hot dogs pretty much stopped on campus after that lecture. I don't think he was ever asked back to the school.
