Weight Loss Yogurt Cereal Breakfast #Healthy Eating #Weekly Menu Plan

In Mireille Guiliano's famous book: French Women Don't Get Fat.  She shares a recipe for what she calls: Magical Breakfast Cream. It is a yogurt cereal concoction that is very healthy and helps stave off hunger, so you can make it to lunch without snacking.

You may like her recipe as it is, but I tweaked it to fit my needs. I wanted to share my version with you. I use whole milk yogurt because I actually was not getting enough fat in my diet, but you may want to stick with low fat yogurt unless you are like me... constantly hungry all morning long. I also added more cereal because I didn't like the consistency of the dish and I still could not make it until noon without hunger pains.

With the recipe below I eat breakfast at 6:30 am and I can make it until 12:00pm without eating. I have energy and the walnuts and flaxseed oil are real mood boosters too. They are a good source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) a form of omega-3 that truly gives you a mental lift. I do eat different things for breakfast, but if I find I am starting to gain weight I eat my Weight Loss Yogurt Cereal Breakfast until I get back to my best weight.

I highly recommend this breakfast if you are trying to loss weight, are hungry often in the morning, or are low on energy and a good mood at the start of your day.

Weight Loss Yogurt Cereal Breakfast

by Diane Balch

Based on Mireille Guiliano's  Magical Breakfast Cream from  French Women Don't Get Fat.

3 tablespoons of hot cereal. (oatmeal, oat bran, Bob's Red Mill GF Mighty Tasty Hot Cereal is my favorite.)
6 tablespoons of water
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
4 tablespoons of low-fat or whole milk yogurt. (no non-fat you need fat to keep you from getting hungry)
1 teaspoon of flaxseed oil
1 teaspoon of honey (raw is best)
2 teaspoons of ground walnuts (I buy them ground at Trader Joes)
A handful of fruit: berries are good.

1) Cook the cereal with the water, lemon juice, and a  pinch of salt on high in the microwave for 1 and 1/2 minutes.

2) Mix the yogurt into the cereal.

3) Add fruit and drizzle on the flaxseed oil, honey and ground walnuts. I only stir it a little because I like everything sitting on top. Mixing it up completely is fine too.
