Lychees are from China, and this dish is from the Dominican Republic? The only thing that the original recipe from Around my French Table: Pork Roast with Mangoes and Lychees has connected to France is that the recipe comes from Alec Lobrano an American who wrote the book: Hungry for Paris, which I will attest... is the best guide to restaurants in Paris. Every recommendation that we went to was terrific.
When my son was in elementary school he had a Korean friend. This boy's bedroom was decorated with the Korean flag and many pictures and items from Korea. My son became fascinated with this country. He even took up Tae Kwon Do a Korean martial art.
The French really seem to like raw food. At least in Paris they seem to eat a lot of steak tartar, salmon tartar and raw oysters. When I was there this Fall, I never had a lunch in a bistro or cafe that I didn't see a raw dish go by...I guess their food safety is better than in the US, because I never heard about anyone getting sick. I even asked the American who brought us on a food tour about food poisoning, and she said she couldn't recall anyone she knew getting it in France.

Mornings are below freezing, but it can warm up to 50 in the afternoon. Some days it is seriously windy outside. As soon as the sun goes down it's cold again. Then it rains. It will rain here in NY for the next four days...Spring it is a chilly wet season. You want to start eating a little lighter, but you still need food to be warming and comforting.

Since I was diagnosed with a wheat allergy I have tried many gluten free breads. Most are low in both taste and nutrition, and many of these bread make me feel bloated.
It was 7 am on a Saturday morning. I decided to make some of the waffles before I woke up my kids for fencing practice. I wanted to have time to "mess up" because anxiety always set in for me when I have to cook anything having to do with flour.
